The Hunt by JonHrubesch The Hunt by JonHrubesch
Painted with Photoshop CS3 with a Wacom Intous 3. I believe it took me about 36hrs over a few weekends to finish. I had a lot of fun painting this. It's the kind of thing I like to paint the most; that is people riding on creatures in an alien landscape with multiple moons/planets in the sky. FUN, FUN, FUN!

I used a little bit of photo reference of myself to make sure the poses were correct and to get the hands right. Hands are a pain to paint but will make or break a painting so I spend extra time trying to do them justice.

Thanks.  I think it's the one image of mine that I can actually say that I like too.

Thanks. I have to say ideas can come from strange places. The origin of this painting was started with my son wanting a funny/strange picture for his Facebook page. I suggested making a photoshopped/painted picture of him riding our cat. But as I began painting the concept for it I changed it to an alien creature, he lost interest in being a part of it so I kept working on it until it turned into this. So I'll thank my son Nick for the inspiration of this one.

Haha nice story! I've had a similar experience with my son asking me to do something Star Wars related and then it just took on its own life. Well, great job regardless of how it came about!

Thanks!

I've never heard of the show so I checked out a 7 min video on YouTube. I definately would have watched that at the time had I known about it. Funny to watch now but I would have liked it in the 80s.
